REAL ART ROADSHOW

Today we went onto the Real Art Roadshow bus.  It was full of contemporary artwork.  We got to walk around and look closely at all the amazing pieces.  We then got to draw a Monster Montage.  We had to draw 5 different elements from 5 different pieces of art to create a monster.  Have a look...

ST PATRICK'S DAY

Today, in room 1, we had a green day.  We found out that some of us have Irish heritage, through our grandparents.  We did all sorts of things involving the colour green.

 We wrote using a green jovi.

 We played on green gameboards

 We read an all time favourite story, Green eggs and ham by Dr Seuss.
We made a chart of who liked green eggs and ham.

 Holly brought a green pikelet she made at home with her mum to school. Awesome Holly.

We ate green fruit and veggies.

RELAY FOR THE DAY

THIS FRIDAY IS RELAY FOR A DAY!
We are raising money for the Cancer Society.
Each class has a 15 minute slot to walk a route around the school field and pass the baton to the next class.  We begin at 9am and finish at 3pm.  Lets go Arrowtown school!!!

Writing about motorbikes

Mr Smallridge is a year 8 teacher at our school.  He specially brought his 1200CC BMW motorbike to school to show us.  We sure had lots of questions to ask him. After listening to him we went back to class and wrote stories about what we heard.  Here are some photos.

Our Dot art

Today in Room 1  we watched the story The Dot by Peter H Reynolds.
We used watercolours to create our own piece of dot artwork.
We learnt to hold the paint brush correctly and how to get the colour shade we wanted by using just enough water.  Here are some of our paintings to share with you.  Next week we are going to go on a dot scavenger hunt and see what we find...

Routines

We are beginning to settle well into our reading rotation.
